Our lake has an island in the middle that the kids love to "explore" on. It's not that big, maybe an acre. Dustin has a friend who raises goats and he has been talking about getting some for a while. I really wasn't that into the idea, I think goats are funny to watch, and the babies are cute, but I really didn't want to have any of my own. Well, the island has been getting a little overgrown with weeds and thistle, and since apparently goats eat anything, Dustin decided that would be the perfect thing to clean it up. So here he comes home one day with two goats in the back of the truck.
Kennedy was excited, Hudson was not so sure about them. They were bleating quite loudly...

So, as you had probably guessed, the island really is surrounded by water. The only way to get there, even if you are a goat, is by boat. Paddle boat, in our case...
I was almost laughing too hard to take pictures.
Of course we named them....
Sally would let the kids pet her, but no matter how much Hudson yelled "MATER! Get OVER here! I want you to eat this grass from out my hand!" this was as close as Mater would get, then he leaps away. It's pretty funny....
So we now have goats on the island. It's actually a really great place for them to be. They are eating all the weeds, and we can't see or hear them unless we want to. Hope this story brought a smile to your face!
You definantly got a laugh from me! Next time were together remind me to tell you about our experience with goats, I hope yours ends better then ours did. The pictures are so cute with the kids.
ReplyDeleteYou have livestock! That is so rural of you, except for the island part. Perfect. Can't wait to see them. That boat ride....priceless!
ReplyDeleteI keep threatening Daniel that if he doesn't let Jace get a dog that I was going to get himm a goat. So you will have to tell me how it goes.
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteI'm sad I missed that. You guys have quite the property out there. We're jealous. One of these years, we'll make it out there when there's water in the lake. It's good to see all is going well!
